Seeking self in art

I am interested in the presence of the artist, the view imposed by the artist, and so have begun a series of shadow and reflection self -portraits exploring the implied and visible presence of the artist within the art. Here I am reflected in my favourite painting of Emily Carr — Above the Trees. I am very inspired by Emily Carr and her determined belief in herself and her vision. She believed in herself and in her vision against tremendous odds as a woman artist in her times. I too, am seeking myself in art

I want to be like Emily Carr
Build a kiln right in my yard
Learn to see so very far
Into the blue
Above the Trees,
Feel the beauty.

Emily Carr captured so beautifully the sublime in nature.
